The update of the Overseer model to version 6.5.7 introduces new effluent methane reduction mitigation (polyferric sulphate application) in beta while an independent scientific review of the model implementation takes place.
Polyferric sulphate application to effluent is a new technology on-farm, and is currently available to farmers with the EcoPond system developed by Ravensdown and Lincoln University. Similar technology has been applied internationally to pig effluent and to human sewage systems. The application of polyferric sulphate (PFS) technology to dairy effluent systems has demonstrated significant reductions in methane (CH4) emissions, achieving up to a 96% decrease.
As part of our OverseerFM service, all farm analyses were updated to version 6.5.7 where the farm account had a current paid subscription. All publications were also updated, as were OverseerSci and OverseerEd software services.
